Detroit Police investigating a domestic related shooting at home of Colored State Senator Virgil Smith - Senator Smith popped some caps at his old lady

Detroit Police are investigating a shooting at the home of State Senator Virgil K. Smith in the 18600 block of Wexford Street on Detroit's east side.

Detroit police Sgt. Cassandra Lewis says the shooting appears to be connected to a domestic situation.

Sources tell 7 Action News that Smith got into an argument with his ex-wife early Sunday morning when he shot at her white Mercedes Benz.

We're told he also has met with Detroit Police to discuss the incident, but there hasn't been any arrests made.

Smith serves as the State Senator for District 4, which covers areas in Allen Park, Detroit, Lincoln Park and Southgate.
