BUMPED UP - 10600 to 10700 South Pulaski - If you live in Mt. Greenwood or across the street in Oak Lawn.... I would be a little concerned

----------------------------------
This post was published to possibly ascertain what the real plans for this location is.
No where does THIS ARTICLE include all the rumors presently being passed around.
We leave the comment section open for all and we have no way as to verifying the comments left.

But I do believe the residential property owners in this area should be informed of what the plans are for this location.

ABOVE TWO IMAGES: An investment group purchased the defunct Family Pride Grocery Store and all the buildings adjacent to it going south up to the Mystic Bar.
This same investment group is currently in negotiations to purchase Mystic Bar and the small strip mall at the corner of 107th and Pulaski Rd. (See below photo)

If this location was going to be anything GOOD for Mt. Greenwood the 19th Ward politicians would be releasing this information and have big signs posted with their names on it....
But the whole deal is shrouded in secrecy.... WHY????

Well, if I owned property in this area I would be calling the 19th Ward and be asking them what is the plans for this location.... Something BIG and I have a feeling SOMETHING BAD for Mt. Greenwood is coming....

Call the 19th Ward Office and ask....

or go on-line and ask via their website:

No investment group spends this kind of money UNLESS they already have approval from the City
and the Alderman for their project.
Do NOT accept "WE DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS GOING TO BE" from any politician....
they would be bull shiting you.

Response From Alderman

Last year, I was contacted by Robert Marthaler of Family Pride Finer Foods at 10601 S. Pulaski Road regarding
the proposed increase to Chicago's minimum wage. Working with Mr. Marthaler and other small business owners,
I voiced my strong and public opposition to this proposal. Despite our opposition, the measure did pass with
overwhelming support in the City Council.

Shortly thereafter, Family Pride closed their doors in February, 2015 and sold the property to Seneca Real Estate
Development. The new owners contacted my office with plans to renovate the building for a new Dollar Tree
location. On several occasions, I communicated that this use was not something that our community would support
and made suggestions for other possible tenants.

Seneca has shown no interest in discussing alternative uses and little regard for the concerns of the community.
I have made my opposition to this plan extremely clear. Unfortunately, zoning code does allow for retail at this
location and does not differentiate between types of retail.

However, the zoning code clearly DOES NOT allow for residential development at this location. Should a developer
seek this use at this location, it would require a special use permit. The issuance of this permit is heavily dependent
upon support and input from the community. As your Alderman, I would not support this type of development.

While I cannot prevent a Dollar Tree from opening at this location, I have already denied their request for any type
of signage that would cross over the public way. Moreover, I have requested regular inspections of the property by
the City's Department of Buildings to ensure that the work being done does not exceed the scope of the permits.
My office will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that all City codes and policies are respected.

As Alderman, I am frequently in a position of dealing with land owners and developers with no regard for community

input. Once the Dollar Tree is open, I would ask all residents to keep in mind the lack of concerned shown for our
community during this process when making their shopping choices.

Sincerely,
Matthew J. O'Shea

True News USA response:

I spoke with Dollar Tree Corporate Office this morning in Chesapeake, Va.
They have not been contacted by any development group as to a Dollar Tree store
being located at this site in question nor is Dollar Tree seeking to expand in that area.

And I find it hard to believe that an investment group would be throwing MILLIONS OF DOLLARS for properties for a single Dollar Tree store.

Keep drinking the Kool Aid folks....
