Seven people were killed and at least 24 others—including a 4-year-old girl—have been wounded in shootings across Chicago this Memorial Day weekend, police said.
“She wakes up, and … she knows who’s in the room,” Marvin Gresham, Jacele’s grandfather, told the Sun-Times late Saturday. “She looks at you, and she moves.
“We’re being told that she’s stable and her vitals are looking really good,” he said. “We’re just hoping for her to be all right.”
The weekend’s most recent fatal shooting happened Sunday afternoon in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side, police said.
