ST. JOSEPH, MICHIGAN - Thursday morning, the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety responded to the area of Niles Avenue and Botham Avenue on a report of a man walking naked in the middle of the roadway.
On arrival, officers found 32-year-old Malik Nisar, from New Buffalo, walking down the center turn lane on Niles Avenue.
Officers were able to immediately and peacefully take him into protective custody.
Nisar was transported to an area hospital where he was examined, determined to be uninjured, and released back into the custody of SJDPS.
He was charged with indecent exposure, a one-year misdemeanor, and lodged at the Berrien County Jail.
During the course of the investigation, police learned that Nisar had recently admitted himself voluntarily for mental evaluation.
Doctors found no evidence of mental illness at that time.
