CHICAGO — Sleeping at work is typically frowned upon, especially if your job is monitoring criminals wearing electronic bracelets.
However, a WGN Investigation caught one Cook County employee sleeping on the job. No one wanted to speak with us when we showed up at the county’s Adult Probation building. In hand were seven pictures of a woman sleeping at a desk. She is sometimes wrapped in a blanket. In other pictures, she has slumped forward with her head resting on the desk. Still, other pictures show her lying back in a chair, mouth agape, sound asleep.
WGN Investigates received the anonymous tip in the mail identifying the worker as Jolania Delafosse who works at the west Walnut Street Probation building. In addition, the tip raised a question about Delafosse’s connection to the top brass in the Adult Probation Department. Her grandmother is Deputy Chief Connie Williams.
