Des Plaines police investigate death of woman found along Central Road

Authorities are investigating the death of a woman whose body was discovered about 4 a.m. Wednesday on the side of Central Road between River and East River roads, said Des Plaines Deputy Chief Nick D. Treantafeles.

He confirmed that the woman was dead when she was discovered but said police were unsure whether she had been hit by a vehicle.

A spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said the woman was 31 years old, but the office will not release her name until relatives are notified.

The cause of death has not been determined, the spokesman said.
